Since 2000, the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies has continuously promoted digitization activities and strived to make its research results and digitalized collections available through online databases.
Kyujanggak collection search service
A search service for the material preserved in the Kyujanggak archives, providing tables of contents,
bibliographical information, classification, texts, and images of original documents.
Kyujanggak resources on history and culture
This service provides an explainer on material preserved in the Kyujanggak archives and can be used for
educational activities. It provides catalogs of exhibitions, virtual reality tours of exhibition rooms,
video clips presenting the Kyujanggak, and explanatory materials on the Kyujanggak collection.
Kyujanggak historical and geographical information service
This service allows the comparison of digitalized ancient maps and topographic material preserved in the
Kyujanggak archives with current geographical data. It also provides geographical materials on present-day
Gyeonggi province.
Aggregated information service on uigwe (books of state rites)
This service allows consultation of aggregated information, tables of contents and texts of uigwe (books of
state rites) held at the Kyujanggak archives. It provides research functions, classification, basic and
detailed information, tables of contents, texts, and photographic reproductions. The service is connected to
the uigwe data of other institutions preserving uigwe material, such as the Cultural Heritage
Administration, the National Museum of Korea, and the Jangseogak.
Aggregated information service on geographical material
This service allows the consultation of aggregated information, tables of contents, and texts of different
types of geographical materials preserved in the Kyujanggak archives. It provides research functions,
classification, basic and detailed information, tables of contents, categorization (by toponym, period, and
source title), texts, and photographic reproductions of original material.
Picture dictionary of Joseon royal culture
This service provides images and explanations—organized by type of rite, subject, and alphabetical order—of
illustrated material taken from uigwe and state rites books of the Joseon Dynasty preserved in the
Kyujanggak archives.
